Who Knew? How To...Homemade Sugar Scrubs.

It was a Saturday afternoon.

Mimi and I were together at my house giggling and chatting with my sister on the phone.  We were finalizing the Christmas Eve menu and talking presents.  Yea!

We were also making homemade sugar scrubs to give as gifts to all of our precious family and friends.  Have you ever used a sugar scrub before?  Heavenly exfoliating, fragrant goodness.
We had so much fun!  We made a Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub and a Peppermint Sugar Scrub.

Let us show you how very easy these gifts were to make!  First, your supplies:

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub
8 half pint jars (we used standard Ball Canning jars)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups olive oil
1 t vanilla (or more)

Peppermint Sugar Scrub
8 half pint jars (still using those Ball canning jars)
12 finely crushed candy canes
3 cups granulated sugar
2 cups olive oil
12 drops peppermint essential oil (or more)

We started with the Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub.  Here's what we did...

Mimi put both sugars into a large bowl and hand mixed to break up any lumps.

Next she added the olive oil and vanilla.

She mixed everything up and started to scoop into the half pint jar.

Yep.  That's it.

And the Peppermint Sugar Scrub was just as easy.  Mix sugar, crushed candy canes (finely crushed - into a powder - in the blender), olive oil and peppermint oil (purchased at a health food store or you could get it here).

Easy Peasy!

Then we packaged them up for gift giving!
We labeled the jars and wrapped them up in clear cellophane bags.  We also included a wash poof with each jar of scrub. You could also include a candle and chocolates.  Or just about anything to make your recipient feel pampered and loved!

I gave these out to my girlfriends this weekend - I really think they liked them!
One note though, make sure to tell your recipients not to use these scrubs on their face or....ehmm...any private regions.  It could cause irritation.  (Hee hee, thanks to my gang of girls for helping me visualize that one - Love you!)

A totally delicious smelling and luxurious way to gift this holiday season - or anytime!  Enjoy!
