Chew on This | Butterbeer - Two Ways

The end comes. Friday. The last movie installment of Harry Potter

Truly, the end came for all of us Harry Potter fans when the last book was released. However, having the movies to pacify our Harry cravings has been wonderful.  And I decided that a celebration, of the end, was due.

And why not start with a cheerful libation? I give you Butterbeer - Two Ways!

This is the adult version. Schnapps, Irish Cream and cream soda. Topped with sweetened whipped cream. After one of these, I might not be so weepy about this last Harry movie. After two, well, I might likely consider Voldemort a real push over that even I could squash.

The kid version, which is delicious for any age really, combines cream soda, butterscotch syrup, butter and evaporated milk. Rich and comforting.

Cheers to Harry Potter! Good always overcomes evil!

And cheers to all you muggles (you know who you are)! And to you witches, wizards and all magical creatures....until we meet again!

Here are the recipes:

Butterbeer - for witches and wizards of all ages

1/2 C butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
1/2 C evaporated milk
2-3 T butter
12 ounces cream soda, chilled

In a small sauce pan, combine butterscotch syrup, evaporated milk and butter. Stir over medium-low heat until butter is melted. Allow mixture to cool for 5 minutes.

Divide butterscotch mixture between two glasses. Pour chilled cream soda between those two glasses - a foamy head will form - and serve. Enjoy!

Butterbeer - for ADULT witches and wizards ONLY

12 ounces cream soda, chilled
4 ounces butterscotch schnapps, chilled
2 ounces Bailey's Irish Cream, chilled
1 C heavy cream
1 T sugar

In a picture, combine cream soda, schnapps and Irish Cream. Stir.

In a bowl, whip heavy cream, adding the sugar once soft peaks begin to form. And continue beating until stiff peaks form.

Pour butterbeer into a glass and top with the sweetened whip cream. Enjoy!

  4. Oooh this looks amazing. I agree about the "end" being the 7th book, but ya gotta celebrate HP any time you can. I'll take the last movie as a good excuse to make this ;) Thanks for the recipe
