Chew on This | Apple Cider Donuts

Is it donut or doughnut? I certainly don't want to mistype. However, if I have a donut/doughnut, do I really even care?

Not so much.

Yippee! It's fall! And what goes better with fall then apples? Or apple cider. Or apple sauce. Or apple pie. Or Apple Cider Donuts. Doughnuts. Donuts. Doughnuts.....whatever. Eat them!

Cares

Here's the recipe:

Apple Cider Donuts
(recipe adapted from Shugary Sweets)
2 C flour
3/4 C granulated sugar
1 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1 t salt
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
1/2 C apple cider
1/3 C apple sauce
2 eggs
1 t vanilla

Glaze/Coating:
1/2 C Confectioner's sugar
1/4 C apple cider

1/3 C granulated sugar
1 t cinnamon

Preheat your oven to 325℉. Lightly grease your donut pan and set aside until needed.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together your flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Next, add your apple cider, apple sauce, eggs and vanilla. Whisk ingredients until completely incorporated and smooth.

Carefully spoon your batter into your prepared donut pan. Bake donuts for 7-10 minutes, or until they spring back when touched. Remove donuts from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before removing from your pan.

While the donuts are baking, prepare your glaze and coating. In a shallow bowl, combine your Confectioner's sugar and apple cider. Stir until completely smooth. In another shallow bowl, mix your granulated sugar and cinnamon.

When your donuts have cooled enough to touch, dip the donuts into the cider glaze. Allow the excess glaze to drip off of the donut. Next, dip (or sprinkle) the glazed donuts with the cinnamon sugar mix. Eat pronto!!
