I come to you today, hat in hand, to share this Homemade Kahlua recipe. You see, I meant to share with you at a much earlier date so that you could make it and share it for the holidays. However, time got away from me. And now….well...it's never too late to do the right thing. I'll share, you'll make and you'll share. Ahh, the circle of recipe life!
I've made a few batches and will be gifting it to special family and friends for Christmas and New Year's. Maybe you will, too!

Here's the recipe:
Homemade Kahlua
(recipe adapted from Beanilla)
2 C water
4 C granulated sugar
3/4 C instant espresso coffee crystals/powder
1 vanilla bean
2 1/4 C good vodka (80 proof or more)
In a large pot, mix water, sugar and espresso powder over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Take pot off the heat and add in your vanilla bean (I slit the bean lengthwise to infuse more vanilla flavor). Cool mixture to room temperature. Once cooled, add in your vodka. Pour mixture into a glass container that seals. Store in a cool area for 2-3 weeks.
When ready to gift, strain mixture, removing the vanilla bean, and pour kahlua into pretty, sealable decanters/bottles.
