Chew on This | Cheddar Beer Dip

Hey. It's February already. And tomorrow is Valentine's Day.

Yikes.


Do you need a Valentine treat idea, besides chocolate, for a special someone? 

This is it.

Cheddar Beer Dip will not disappoint. And if you're feeling especially amorous - make these soft pretzels to go along side. You'll be crowned 'Best-Valentine-Gift-Giver' for all eternity.

Here's our recipe:

Cheddar Beer Dip
2-3 T butter
2 T flour
2 cloves finely minced garlic
1 1/2 t mustard powder
1 t salt
8 ounces dark beer 
3-4 C shredded, extra sharp cheddar cheese

In a sauce pan over medium-low heat, melt butter. Once butter is melted, sprinkle on your flour. Whisk flour and butter together constantly, and allow flour to cook. Add in your garlic, mustard powder, and salt. Whisk to combine.

While still whisking, slowly pour in your beer. Keep stirring while mixture thickens. When mixture has thickened to a soft pudding consistency, remove from the heat and add in your shredded cheese. Stir until cheese is completely melted and dip is thick and gooey.

Serve Cheddar Beer Dip with chips, bread chunks, cut up vegetables and/or warm soft pretzels. Enjoy!
